Abattoir layout and design
Abattoirs can planned out following a design with a lot of thought put into it or they can also be formed without so much consideration, for example where an already existing building has been converted out of convenience.
The extent with which an abattoir is well designed, with consideration for the animals experience, varies across different abattoir layouts. Designers may consider things like placing non slip flooring where animals may slip, arranging the walls to not make scary situations, and avoiding distractions, sights, and sounds that may cause distress in the animals.
