Looking at the nutrient values in the food we eat is very important. The nutrients that foods supply such as calories, protein, fats (saturated and unsaturated),cholesterol, carbohydrates, sugar, salt, vitamins and minerals are vital to our health and well being. On packets these values are often expressed per 100g or per portion size, and sometimes this can be difficult to read and understand. Also there are sometimes misconceptions about the nutritional values of certain foods, due to either a health claim or a food fad.
